Keratoconus Specialists

“I drove 1 hour and 45 minutes each way… and now I’m seeing the BEST I’ve ever seen!”

When patients tell us they’ve spent years searching for better vision, we understand how frustrating that journey can be.

This patient traveled 1 hour and 45 minutes each way to visit our practice after feeling disappointed by previous experiences elsewhere. After being fitted with specialty scleral lenses, they shared:

“I’m seeing THE BEST I’ve ever seen!”

For many people living with keratoconus, corneal irregularities, post-surgical complications, or other complex corneal conditions, standard glasses and contact lenses simply aren’t enough. That’s where advanced specialty scleral lenses can make a life-changing difference.

Every day, we help patients who have been told they’ve run out of options discover what’s possible when they receive truly specialized care.

Have you ever been told there was “nothing more that could be done” for your vision?

There may be options you haven’t explored yet.

Poorly Managed Keratoconus Corrected | Patient Testimonial

When it comes to managing Keratoconus, there is a massive difference between a standard eye exam and specialized, custom care.
Many patients come to our office completely exhausted. They have spent years dealing with blurry vision, ghosting, and daily eye irritation, often being told by well-meaning practitioners that their vision is “as good as it gets” for their condition.
But you do not have to live in discomfort to see clearly.
In this patient testimonial, she opens up about her history of poorly managed keratoconus and the daily suffering caused by her prior lenses. After taking the time to precisely map her unique corneal irregularities and consult on her specific lifestyle needs, we were able to deliver a 100% vision improvement!

Why generic contact lenses fail Keratoconus patients:
Irregular Surfaces: Keratoconus causes the cornea to thin and bulge into an irregular cone shape. Standard soft or generic hard lenses cannot align correctly, causing constant friction.
Corneal Irritation: Poorly fit lenses slide around, leading to redness, corneal scarring, and a “bulging” or burning sensation.
The Specialty Difference: Advanced custom medical lenses (like scleral lenses) vault completely over the sensitive cornea, bathing the eye in a continuous reservoir of soothing hydration while providing crisp, stable, high-definition vision.
If your current lenses are a daily struggle, stop settling for “good enough” vision. Your keratoconus can be managed comfortably.

Keratoconus, Corneal Transplant, Intacts, CrossLinking, and Scleral Lenses

I had a corneal transplant early on in 2006, I believe. And because of the shape of the cornea was steep and the soft lenses or the hard lenses couldn’t fit the cornea shape, so that’s why I was told the only solution was the corneal transplant. So I had a corneal transplant in, as I said, 2007, 2006, and unfortunately, that corneal transplant in my right eye wasn’t successful. So I had to research the shape of the cornea again, but still I wasn’t able to achieve the vision that I was looking for. But eventually, with the scleral lenses now, I can see a lot better. So basically, I had a corneal transplant in my right eye, and also, later on, I had– recently, actually, I have a cross-linking and intacts on my left eye. I was told another cornea transplant from my left eye. And then, I was like, OK, just give it another try. So I went to California. Did my cross-linking and the intacts. Unfortunately, the vision wasn’t improved. So I was searching online and eventually, I found Dr. Azman Keratoconus Specialists of Maryland. He is a good doctor for scleral lenses. As I was told, this could improve the vision. And Dr. Azman he was very helpful and took the time in each patient. So we made a couple of visit to the office. I’m actually from Virginia. I came all the way from Virginia to Maryland because I was searching online he’s the only doctor I found. He could be a good help for scleral lenses.

I was diagnosed with Keratoconus about 15 years ago…now I’m comfortable driving at night and everything.

My name is Dustin. I am a patient of Doctor Azman’s. I was diagnosed with Keratoconus about 15 years ago with no clear path to solving it. I had one doctor in Michigan that I saw, and then through my work travels, I saw– also saw a doctor in New York, and wasn’t able to find a clear solution to my problem until I moved down to Maryland and contacted Dr. Azman online, and he reached out to me. Then together, formulated a solution and now I’m comfortable with full vision and driving and everything. I used to– be a point where I was barely passing a driver’s test with my contact gear with my glasses, and now with these contact lenses, I feel comfortable driving at night and everything.
