I met Dr. Benjamin Azman by “accident” on October 28th, 2016. Of all things, my little 4 pound Yorkshire Terrier hit me in the eye with his little, wet nose and caused quite a nasty abrasion on my cornea. I was in Timonium on travel, I live in Northern VA. Across the street from the venue I was at I recalled seeing an Eye Care Sign on the building so I walked in. Words can not adequately describe the level of care and concern I felt from the moment I was greeted at the desk. To say that every single person I encountered went above and beyond the call would be an understatement. The accident happened on a Friday morning, I was to be in town until Sunday evening. Two of the Doctors opened the office on Sunday morning for a follow-up visit which is unheard of. I also received calls and a couple of text messages just checking if there was any pain before the Sunday follow-up appointment. As a result of this little accident, due to the very interesting diagnostic equipment they have, a more serious problem was found behind my eyes that I had no idea about. I have my eyes checked and dilated yearly by a local Optometrist so this was very concerning. I feel so blessed to have found this practice and for the genuine care they demonstrated.
I have what is called advanced keratoconus which requires me to wear a special contact lens. Before I was diagnosed I wore glasses just never wanted to wear contacts because I was scared, I’m very weird about touching my eyes, I kept rescheduling my appointments and Dr. Azman and his staff kept calling for me to come in, I was just afraid of the thought of inserting contacts I didn’t think I could do it, I believed that I could get glasses instead of the contacts, didn’t happen. My vision deteriorated so quickly I had to go in, let me say The Azman team are the friendliest, most professional group of people that I’ve met in a long time, Joanne worked with me until I was comfortable with putting the contacts in and taking them out, she was patient and even called to check on me, I have two different lenses that I insert. At home I did everything Joanne said to do and I have no problems. I am so glad I made it into the office. When Dr. Benjamin Azman put my lenses in and I could see clearly for the first time in a long time I cried …Dr. Benjamin was so awesome! Thank you so much !! Azman is my eye care specialist for life!!

When this patient was in her 30s her RX was about -10 in both eyes. She was not able to wear contact lenses and had to wear her glasses, which she didn’t like. So she decided to have Radial Keratotomy (RK) Surgery. Her vision was good for many years, but then it went down hill. Eyeglasses and contact would not work for. Her entire life changed – it was dangerous for her to drive at night. Eventually she was fitted for custom scleral lenses and now has the best vision she has had in years!

“From the moment an individual walks into the office, Azman Eye Care Specialists demonstrate that they are geared to serve. The receptionists greet patients with a smile, ask about their families, and offer something to drink. The waiting time is never long, but if it is, there are plenty of current magazines with which to entertain oneself. When one does go back, the technicians treat clients with respect and explain each step of the tests. Finally, once patients see the doctors–who are professional in every definition of the word–they are again greeted warmly and treated with respect. The entire experience is life changing, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. ”
Dr. Azman, thank you very much for the excellent care and attention you and your team provided. It truly was a pleasure to meet with you. You have provided me the confidence and ability to pursue my dream career, and i thank you with all sincerity!

Dr. Azman works with each patient indivully to achieve sucessfull results
I have been wearing contact lens for 55 years. When I moved from out-of-state to Maryland, I needed to find a new contact lens specialist. I found Dr. Azman using a Google search. I was surprised to get a phone call asking me questions before getting an appointment. It turns out Dr. Azman specializes in problem cases. As I described my increasing discomfort and dry eyes, he said he could help.
I never had the tests he did for tear layer, the topography of cornea, etc. I discovered my contacts were not fitting properly causing an abrasion on both eyes. After two weeks of no contacts, the abrasion was healed. I was surprised when he suggested soft contacts. My previous doctor thought I couldn’t wear them after years with hard and then gas permeable lens. Switching to the soft lens was no problem. It took some adjusting of different strengths of the lens to get the correction for reading and computer work, but now I am very happy with the results.
I could not drive at night with contacts because of the extreme glare. That is gone. My eyes were very sensitive to light so I needed sunglasses all the time. That is gone.
